Last weekends fifth round of this seasons VLMS-ERL Endurance series was once again a successful day for the combined 05 Motorsport ERL team.
Having both the Prototype One car & GT entry lapping competitively in both early testing & practice sessions the team was once again confident of strong results.
With conflicting events ruling out team drivers Renato Dornelles & Kamran Choudhry the Daytona event saw regular P1 driver Kevin Brents joined by stand in pilot Jan Larsen. With Kevin having qualified the P1 entry car in a strong 2nd place overall both drivers were looking forward to what was going to be a highly competitive outing.
From the green the 05M entry was able to lap consistently & hold on to the lead car whilst all the time managing traffic albeit with several incidents involving the slower GT field.
After incurring slight damage to the 05M Audi,in turn effecting top end speed, the team was never the less able to bring the car home in a strong 2nd place outright….a brilliant result considering their obvious handicap.
Over in the GT camp the team entry of Tim Brook,Andrew Werner & sim racings latest doyen George Talbot had conspired to claim second place on the grid during qualifying the previous week.
Throughout the 8 hour race all three drivers worked as a cohesive team & although encountering a few mishaps & incidents along the way & with a some luck on their side were able to take the class win….their second such victory for the season.
Congrats once again to the combined 05M VLMS-ERL team on another brilliant showing.

This past weekend saw the running of the fourth round of this seasons RDLMS Championship at the narrow & demanding Road Atlanta circuit.
With the Prototype One entry of 05M keen to improve on recent results the trio of Jan Larsen,Tim Brook & Ryan Mayfield had logged considerable testing prior to the event & upon lining up to take the green light on race day were this time aiming for that elusive podium finish.
Once again the P1 field was a highly competitive affair including the entries of GT Omega & Atlantic Racing teams however after several hours of running the 05M team were now aiming quietly confident of securing that top three result.
After racing a conservative strategy early on in the 8 Hour event the team decided to turn up the pace for the remaining 3 hours & upon race finish found themselves in a rewarding 3rd place position overrall….an excellent result & one that the team will look upon improving come the finale at Le Mans in February.
It is of interest to note that of the three events run by the P1 team they have improved with every appearance.
Over on the GT2 front both the 05M & 25M Porsche 997RSRs were once again present for competiton. Unfortunately however mid race technical issues once again struck down the 25M entry eliminating drivers Jeffrey Ruskus,Richard Sobolewski & Nabil Abusharr whilst in a promising second in class….an unfortunate glitch that all to often puts pay to a teams efforts during these arduous long distance races.
On a brighter note though the 05M GT2 entry of Wilfred van den Brink,George Talbot & Kevin Brents was once again at the pointy end of the action securing another well deserved pole position & come the end of the event another brilliant & dominant class win taking the event by several laps over their competiton,an outstanding achievement….congratulations guys.
Next race is the 12 Hours of Le Mans scheduled for the 11th February 2012.
